Mariachi music started in Jalisco, Mexico in the 1800s. Mariachi music is based around stringed instruments and songs and embodies the history of Mexico in every song. A complete Mariachi group could include as many as eight violins, two trumpets and a guitar (typically using a guitarron which better serves to the bass frequency of the singers over a normal guitar).
