Born in the suburbs of Buenos Aires at the end of the 19th century, Tango is sentimental, melancolic, and passionate. It reflects the nature of old Buenos Aires, a mixture of inmigrants and criollos. The bandoneon, which gives Tango its unique flavor, is related to the German concertina. The old-guard Tango has flavors of Cuban Habanera. Notable representative artists: Carlos Gardel, Ignacio Corsini, and Agustin Magaldi. --bellerda
